Meghan Markle Announces Her Children’s Book ‘The Bench’ Inspired By Prince Harry And Son Archie; Netizens Accuse Her Of Plagiarism
Meghan Markle has made it to the headlines once again. This time, it’s again for all the wrong reasons. The Duchess of Sussex turned author with her new children’s book titled ‘The Bench’. She recently announced that she is to publish a children’s book inspired by Prince Harry and son Archie. But, before the book’s release, it has landed up into trouble. Many users on social media called out Meghan Markle’s for plagiarism. Netizens accused Markle of copying content from a children’s book titled ‘The Boy and The Bench’, written by author Corrinne Averiss, that released in 2018.

Speaking of Meghan Markle’s book cover, it shows a tree next to a brown bench. The book cover reads, “’ The Bench’ by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex” Talking about Averiss’ book, it sees a boy sitting with his father on a bench in a park. The cover is green and surrounds children playing on a slide. Netizens pointed out how both the books appear to feature almost alike colourful illustrations. Apart from that, the story of both books is also based around the special bond between a father and son.

According to a report in Daily Mail, on Twitter, one user wrote, “Almost identical to Corrinne Averiss book 'The Boy On the Bench', even the cover.” Whereas, another social media user wrote, “I hope the author she ripped off is going to sue her, the cheek of this woman! The Boy on the Bench by Corrinne Averiss.” A third user also said, “Inspired by Harry’s first wife or copied from “The boy on the bench” by Corrinne Averiss? If I were Corrinne I would sue @CorrinneAveriss” A fourth user wrote, “Almost Identical to Corrinne Averiss book “The Boy, on the Bench” Even the cover, identical” and expressed fury.

Meanwhile, as per the report, while announcing the book, Meghan Markle said in a statement that her children’s book will be published on June 8, by Random House. The report stated that Markle said the book was “inspired by a poem she wrote for Prince Harry at the time of the birth of their son Archie.” On the other hand, the illustrations of The Bench were by Award-winning illustrator Christian Robinson.
